Hostel Casaverde, Trevelin

A Hostelling International hostel

I could be sitting outside on the hostel's deck, without a jacket, but I had to plug in the computer. I've not needed a jacket during the day even though Trevelin's at 2,400 feet elevation, and it’s over one month into Autumn - this is the nature of Andean microclimates.

Hostel Casaverde is an Alpine chalet set atop a hill with a wall of glass overlooking the picturesque village of Trevelin amid a wide green lawn, fruit trees and free-range chickens. The hostel is run by its owners who speak Spanish, Welsh and English. The common room is spacious, with comfortable seating and an open guest kitchen. The dorm and private rooms are nicely designed with artistic touches and there is daily maid service. It’s a hostel that entices guests to linger and extend their stay.

The center of Trevelin is a mere 10-minute walk down the hill. Parque Nacional Los Alerces, and winter skiing at the Winter Sports Centre, "La Hoya," are within easy drives. The hostel will help with excursion arrangements, and the owners are avid bicyclist. Bike rentals are available at the hostel.

I can see no reason not to choose Casaverde Hostel as your lodging while in Trevelin. Rates for a private room with bath: AR$200 - 290 (US$45.00 - $67.00) including continental breakfast, and a dorm bed for AR$60 (US$14.00).
